Rochester Woman’s Car Hit By Truck, Lands On Frozen Pond
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester woman ended up at St. Marys Hospital Wednesday after being involved in a traffic crash that left her vehicle on a frozen pond.
The 61-year-old woman was driving through the intersection near the 40th St SW bridge over S. Broadway around 7:30 AM when her vehicle was hit by a pickup truck.
Police say the woman’s vehicle ended up on the ice of a retention pond on the south side of 40th St and she apparently blacked out after suffering a head injury.
A Good Samaritan went to the vehicle and helped the woman get off the ice. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital to be checked for her head injury and sore ribs.
Police say the driver of the truck who hit the car said he tried to stop for the red light but slid into the intersection. He was ticketed for failure to drive with due care.
