The Rochester Fire Department (RFD) responded to the fire call around 7:30 Sunday evening. Four engines responded to the scene.
Attempts to put out the flames with fire extinguishers by the owner, an Olmsted County Sheriff’s Deputy and an RFD Battalion Chief were not successful.
A news release issued by the Rochester Fire Department Sunday night says the burning motorhome was parked about 20 feet away from a house in the 5100 block of Highland Ridge Ln. Southeast.
The Battalion Chief was the first member of RFD to arrive and reported the fire was burning inside of the motorhome. The engine crews arrived and extinguished the blaze.
Firefighters then searched the RV and found no one was inside. Crews treated an occupant of the motor home at the scene.
One person was transported from the scene by Mayo Clinic Ambulance for smoke inhalation. The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office described her as a 70-year-old woman.
The RV suffered what is described in the news release as major smoke and water damage that will cost an estimated $5,000 to repair. It’s not yet known what caused the fire.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo Clinic Ambulance also responded to the scene of the fire.
