The defendant in the sex assault case is currently in custody in North Dakota, where he was convicted of a different child sex crime.
Rollingstone Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Rochester Teen Girl Twice
The charges say a man who is a mandated reporter told Rochester Police in January that the victim reported being sexually assaulted by a 19-year-old man.
The girl’s mother identified the man as Shawn Gene Pozanc Dubois of Rollingstone. The charges say he told the victim's mother he was a 16-year-old high school student in Winona County.
Dubois met the victim on Snapchat last Fall and had visited the family’s home in Rochester and camper in Wabasha County, the complaint says. During an interview with police in January, the victim told police that Dubois asked her to be his girlfriend after he added her on Snapchat.
The girl said Dubois told her he was 17 at first then said he was 18 a few days later. She said the two would facetime and that Dubois would ask her to show him her private parts, the charges allege.
The 19-year-old man also asked the girl to send him sexually explicit images of herself and the victim said she complied with his request about 10 times, according to the complaint.
The court document says Dubois then sexually assaulted the victim in the basement of her parents home in Rochester and pressured her into having sex with him at the Wabasha County campsite, the girl told police.
If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, resources are available for help. Visit the RAINN website (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network) or dial 800-656-HOPE (800-656-4673).
He also told the victim the girl would ruin his life if she told anyone about their sexual encounters. After interviewing the victim, police obtained Dubois's phone and found sexually explicit photos of the victim and a video of her engaged in a sexual act, the charges say.
Dubois has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct, soliciting a child to engage in a sexual act and engaging in electronic communication relating or describing sexual conduct with a child.
Dubois was convicted of committing a similar crime in North Dakota, in which he traveled to Bismarck to meet the victim. He’s awaiting sentencing in that case.
A date for him to return to southeast Minnesota to face the charges in Olmsted County has not yet been set.
