Security Guard Fatally Shoots Robber in Eagan
EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Police in a Twin Cities suburb say a security guard fatally shot an armed man who he said was trying to rob him.
The shooting happened early Monday in the parking lot of a warehouse in Eagan. The armed security guard told police he was attacked by the gunman who was wearing a ski mask and that he shot the man during the assault. Authorities say the man who was shot died at the scene. The security guard suffered minor injuries.
Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the guard was acting in self-defense.
The Star Tribune reports the shooting happened outside a warehouse being used to process Christmas boxes for underprivileged children. Samaritan's Purse International Relief was using the building as a processing center for its Operation Christmas Child program.
