A news release issued by Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) says the partial park closure, which is an effort to ensure safety during the work, will begin on Monday.
The closure is part of the RPU Duct Work project at Slattery Park.
Parts of Slattery Park in Rochester to Close for Utility Project
The following areas will not be accessible during the work:
The closure will extend off 9th St SE into the park
The west side of the park will be closed off heading south along the west side of the baseball fields
At 10th St SE the close will extend to the east across the Bear Creek bridge and will terminate on the east side of the bridge.
RPU says the project will allow the utility provider to serve load growth for downtown Rochester and southern Rochester.
Upgrades and installment of other city infrastructure along the duct bank are also planned to limit near-term future disruptions, the news release says.
An estimated finishing date for the project is not available. RPU says the completion timeline depends on weather conditions leading up to the winter.
