Update: Rochester Police ID Suspect in Deadly Sunday Night Shooting 

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- One person is dead and another is in custody following a shooting in southeast Rochester

Rochester police responded to the scene of the gunfire shortly after 9:30 Sunday night. 

Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says responding officers encountered a man lying on the ground and suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Victim of Rochester Shooting Dies at Hospital, Suspect Arrested After Armed Burglary

Officers found the victim in the 1200 block of Marion Rd. SE. The victim was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital by Mayo Clinic Ambulance.

Shortly before midnight, Grayson announced that the victim had died from his injuries. His name has not yet been released.

About five minutes after arriving at the shooting scene, officers were called to the report of a man with a gun breaking into a home in the 2700 block of Marion Rd. SE. 

Grayson says the man who broke into the residence was identified as the suspect in the deadly shooting

Police say he also knew the residents of the home he reportedly broke into. The name of the alleged gunman has not been released. 

The suspected shooter and shooting victim were related, Grayson said. No other details are available as of Monday morning.
