Storm Spotter Training Next Week in Rochester

It's Severe Weather Awareness week in Minnesota.  Do you know what to do when bad weather strikes?  I mean, severe thunderstorms with hail and high winds or tornados?

Todd Shea is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.  He reminds people especially in the event of a tornado to NOT go outside and get a good look, but to head to the basement or under heavy furniture, or both.

The technology and warning systems have improved tremendously over the years but it's still up to you to seek shelter.

A couple of reminders.

A statewide tornado drill takes place this Thursday.  You should hear sirens at around 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

Also, there's a Storm spotter training session conducted by the National Weather Service next Monday night at 6:30 p.m. at the International Events Center in Rochester.
