FBI: Threatening Note That Diverted Minneapolis-Based Flight to Texas Was a Hoax by Children
On Thursday, the FBI revealed that a threatening note was the cause of the emergency landing. The FBI says the note, which was discovered by passengers on the plane and reported to the flight crew, read “You are all going to die. Help me.”
Crewmembers reported the note to law enforcement and diverted the flight to southwest Texas.
During interviews of the passengers, federal investigators determined the note was a hoax conducted by two young children on the flight, the statement says.
Officials say the U.S. Attorney’s Office of West Texas has decided to decline criminal prosecution in the matter. Along with the crew there were 156 passengers on the flight, the FBI says.
