Man in His Late Teens Killed in Minneapolis Shooting Tuesday Morning
Police responded to reports on gunfire in the 2700 block of Pillsbury Ave. South and found the victim, described as a man in his late teens, lying next to a vehicle and suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Responding officers rendered aid but the gunshot victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the news release says.
“The tragic loss of this young man is alarming,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara. “His family and loved ones deserve answers, and he deserves justice. I encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
The preliminary investigation indicates the young man was involved in an altercation prior to the shooting. He was driving the vehicle he was found next to when he was hit by the gunfire, according to police.
The teen then crashed into an unoccupied vehicle, police say. A female who was riding with the gunshot victim was uninjured.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the victim's name upon completion of an autopsy. No arrests have been announced as of Tuesday morning.
