The Region Has Seen a Dozen COVID Deaths in the Past 3 Days
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - State officials are reporting two more coronavirus-related deaths in the Rochester area.
The deaths of two Olmsted County residents in their late 80s were among the 53 COVID-19 deaths reported by the Minnesota Department of Health on Sunday. In addition to the Olmsted County deaths, coronavirus-related deaths involving people in their late 80s were also reported in Winona and Goodhue Counties. Since Thursday, there have been a dozen COVID-19 deaths reported in the region.
The State Health Department today also reported just over 2700 new infections throughout Minnesota. 35 of the new cases were found in Olmsted County. Officials say around 38,300 COVID-19 tests were completed for a daily testing positivity rate of about 7 percent.
Due to delays associated with the New Year's Holiday, the statistics reported today included the combined totals from both Friday and Saturday.
