The National Weather Service has issued its climate report for the summer of 2014 and it shows the three-month period ended up being a little cooler and wetter than normal.

The average temperature for June through August was 69.4-degrees, which is a half-degrees below normal. The highest temperature recorded at the Rochester airport during that span was 87-degrees on August 24th. It was also only the seventh summer on record in Rochester during which the mercury failed to reach 90-degrees.

The coldest temperature reading of the summer was 47-degrees on June 13th. Rochester saw 14.09 inches of precipitation in June, July, and August. That was only about a third of an inch higher than normal. The wettest day of the summer was June 16th, when the city saw 1.34 inches of rain.
