Tragic Discovery: Body of Missing Rochester Woman Found in Culvert

The Rochester Police Department's search for a missing woman took a tragic turn on Friday afternoon when investigators discovered a woman's body in southeast Rochester.

The body was found late Friday afternoon, approximately 80 yards inside a culvert by a retention pond off of 25th St. SE east of Broadway Avenue South. Chief Jim Franklin shares, “This is not the outcome any of us wanted. We extend our sincere condolences to Ms. Dobmeier’s family and friends.”

ROCHESTER WOMAN REPORTED MISSING MARCH 6TH

Earlier this week, Police said Alice Faye Dobmeier was last spotted leaving her residence in southwest Rochester between 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on March 3.

Her family and friends said they were unable to contact her since her disappearance, which they said was unlike her. Items belonging to the 34-year-old were found next to the body discovered on Friday.

The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is currently working to make a formal identification and determine the cause and manner of death. See the full statement the Rochester Police Department released Friday evening below.

The discovery brings an unfortunate conclusion to the search efforts. The community had rallied behind the Rochester Police Department's plea for assistance, hoping for her safe return.

As the investigation continues, authorities have assured the public that there is no known threat to the community.
