ORIGINAL STORY

St Paul (KROC AM News)  - St Paul police are investigating an apparent triple murder and two of the victims were children.

According to a St Paul Police Dept. press release, the deadly shootings occurred Saturday afternoon in the city’s Payne-Phalen neighborhood.

Two of the victims were dead when first responders arrived. The victims were described as a woman in her 30s and a teenage girl.

The third, a juvenile male, was transported to Regions Hospital and later died.

A St. Paul police spokesman said an officer was sent to the apartment an hour before the killings were discovered on a welfare check. A woman who answered the door told the officer everything was okay.

“This is a senseless tragedy that’s left us all heartbroken—as police officers, as human beings, as members of the community,” said Saint Paul Police Chief Todd Axtell. “Moments like this are hard and painful. But maybe our city can take a small sense of comfort knowing that their officers are out there working as hard as they can—like they always do—for the victims, for their family and for everyone who cares about our community. And the investigators and officers will continue to work around the clock until they find the person responsible."

The Ramsey County medical examiner will positively identify the victim and determine an exact cause of death.

News update:  Rochester City Council is being asked to annex Gamehaven Park.
