Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- Police in Minneapolis suspect gang activity of motivating a triple homicide

“After a relative period of peace, the likes of which have not been seen in at least five years, that peace has been shattered.,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said.  

Officers received multiple notifications of gunfire around 11:55 Tuesday night. In all five people were shot. The shooting occurred in the 1500 block of East 25th St.

3 Dead, 3 Wounded After Night of Gun Violence in Minneapolis

Responding officers encountered a man on a sidewalk near an ally suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, police say.

Nearby, police found a vehicle occupied by two men and two women, all of whom were also suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Police began rendering life-saving care to all five individuals, officials say. 

The man found on the sidewalk, one of the men in the vehicle and one of the women in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

The other man and woman were taken to a hospital and were still alive as of Wednesday morning. The gunshot victims have not been identified. 

The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was a targeted event and possibly gang related, a Minneapolis Police Department news release says. So far no arrests have been announced. 

About an hour after the fatal shooting, officers responded to the report of gunfire in the 3000 block of 15th Avenue South. 

A man later arrived at a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Authorities say it’s not known if the two shootings are related.
