Hamlin, IA (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in western Iowa responded to a deadly helicopter crash Tuesday afternoon.

The Audubon County Sheriff's Office says the crash was reported just before 4:30 p.m. near the town of Hamlin, which is located about 60 miles straight west of Des Moines. The Associated Press is reporting that 2 people from Minnesota were killed in the crash. Their names have not been released and, at this time, it is not known where they resided in Minnesota.

The Audubon County Advocate Journal newspaper is reporting that a witness saw the helicopter hit some powerlines before crashing and catching fire.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are expected to investigate the incident.
