VA Hospital Woes Discussed on Rochester Today

Tom Ostrom returned from "assignment" on Tuesday to join Andy Brownell for the Rochester Today show on KROC-AM.

The ongoing scandal involving "secret waiting lists" and allegations of substandard care in Veterans Administration hospitals was the focus of much of the discussion, which included when President Obama knew, or should have known of the problems.

Ironically, supporters of Obamacare pointed to the VA system as an example of a government run health system that worked during the health care reform debate a few years ago.  At the time, the strains created by soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan were already adding to the VA system's ability to deal with Korean War and aging Vietnam War veterans.
