The responding officers came upon four American pitbull terriers mauling the young man before one of the dogs was shot with a "less lethal" round and all of the dogs ran into the home. Trawick was then rushed to North Memorial Hospital for emergency surgery, but he died from his injuries Thursday evening.

The dogs were placed in quarantine until they could undergo a "dangerous dog" evaluation.

Brooklyn Center Police say of dogs owned by a family member and Trawick was dog-sitting when the attack occurred. This family has established a GoFundMe website to accept donations to cover the cost of his funeral and related expenses.
