That’s according to a news release issued on Wednesday by the state agency. The alleged violations occurred from August through December of last year.
The MPCA says Journey Developing Inc. failed to properly operate its wastewater treatment facility for the River Park Housing Development in Oronoco before connecting it to the city’s new wastewater treatment plant.
The MPCA says their investigation found the Elgin-based company failed to properly staff operators, laboratory analysis and process controls during the alleged violation window.
Officials also say the facility exceeded effluent limits for nitrogen on 43 occasions, failed to submit monthly discharge reports 17 and failed to sample for 79 pollution parameters between April 2019 and January 2024.
The MPCA says Journey Developing Inc. has paid a $12,525 civil penalty and has completed multiple corrective actions.
