Byron Man Pleads Guilty in Knife Threat Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Byron man has admitted to a felony charge stemming from an incident earlier this year involving a reported assault with a knife.
Report of Knife Assault
The criminal complaint filed against 26-year-old Brandyn Wade Wolf says Olmsted County Sheriff's deputies responded to a residence in Oronoco on the night of February 7 and were told that Wolf had been charging at people with a knife.
According to the court document, a man who lived at the residence with his girlfriend and Wolf told deputies that he and Wolf had gotten into an argument concerning Wolf's treatment of his girlfriend. The criminal complaint says deputies were told that the argument escalated when Wolf got into the man's face, and the man responded by pushing him back.
Accused of Wielding Knife
The man then stated that Wolf pulled out a large fixed-blade knife and held it at his hip before he allegedly ran at the victim with the weapon and lunged at him twice, but stopped short of stabbing him. The criminal complaint says the victim told deputies he was fearful and had no reason to think that Wolf was not going to stab him.

Claimed Self Defense
The court document says Wolf, when interviewed by a deputy, claimed he was acting in self-defense after the victim spit in his face.
He was charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and felony terroristic threats. Under a plea agreement, Wolf has entered a guilty plea to the threats charge in exchange for the dismissal of the felony assault charge.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in July.
