Weather-Related Crash Totals Keep Growing
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Auto body shops throughout Minnesota will likely be very busy for months repairing the damage caused by storm-related crashes over the past couple weeks.
The Minnesota State Patrol is reporting there were around 350 crashes and around 550 vehicle spinouts statewide from 10:30 Tuesday night through 10:30 last night. The tally put together by the State Patrol's Rochester District found 68 crashes, 165 vehicles off the road and 28 jackknifed semi trucks between 6 AM yesterday and noon today.
8 of the crashes in the Rochester District resulted in injuries and two of those occurred in Olmsted County this morning. The first was reported around 5 AM on Highway 63 on the hill just north of the Rochester Airport where an SUV slid off the highway and came to rest on its side in the median. The State Patrol says a man and woman from Brooklyn Park were in the SUV and were transported to St. Marys Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The second crash occurred around 10:30 on I-90 and involved a collision between a car and a pickup truck. Three people were in the two vehicles, but the State Patrol has not released their names or information about the extent of their injuries.
