Another Friday night of High School Football is in the books, and there were some very entertaining games across the area.

We were in LeRoy Friday night as LeRoy-Ostrander hosted Grand Meadow in a 9-Man football showdown. It was another entertaining chapter added to the story that is Grand Meadow vs. LeRoy-Ostrander rivalry.

Grand Meadow Takes Down LeRoy-Ostrander 22-6

The Grand Meadow Superlarks scored on the opening kickoff returned by Cael Gilbert to open the scoring 8-0. Then the defenses on both sides were making plays left and right. Whenever a defense needed to get a 4th down stop, or a turnover, it seemed to do so. Stuck at the 8-0 score into the 4th quarter, the Superlarks finally found the paydirt when Gilbert hit Isacc Harmening with just over 6:00 minutes to go for a score and a 14-0 lead.

Grand Meadow would tack on one more score to go up 22-0 with just over 2 minutes to go, eventually winning the game 22-6 after Camden Hungerholt connected with Carter Sweeny for a touchdown late in the 4th.

The Superlarks moved to 3-2 with the win and take on takes on Southland (0-4) next week. LeRoy-Ostrander fell to 1-4 on the season and battles #6 Spring Grove (5-0) next Saturday.

#3 Lanesboro Tops Kingsland 49-8

The Lanesboro Burros moved to 5-0 on the season with a big 49-8 win over a tough Kingsland team. The Burros offense has been stellar all year, averaging over 39 points per game, but the defense has really been locked in, allowing just 18.8 points per game tied for best in the section.

The Burros travel to take on Nicollet next Friday night. The Knights fell to 2-3 on the season and host Lyle-Pacelli (3-2) next Friday.

#6 Spring Grove Beats Southland 33-14

Spring Grove's offense continues to roll with a win over Southland to move to 5-0 on the season. The Lions average an incredible 48.8 points per game, along with a defense that allowed just 18.8 points per game. Spring Grove will host LeRoy-Ostrander (1-4) next week. Southland (0-5) will travel to Grand Meadow to take on the Superlarks (3-2).

Lyle-Pacelli Takes Down Houston 30-6

Lyle-Pacelli took down Houston to move to 3-2 on the season. L/P will travel to Spring Valley to take on Kingsland (2-3) next week. Houston (0-5) will host Mabel-Canton (3-1, played Madelia Saturday) next Friday night.

Rochester Lourdes Win Thriller Over #1 Cannon Falls 24-22

Rochester Lourdes, who was receiving votes in the latest polls, knocked off #1 ranked Cannon Falls in Rochester Friday night. The Eagles kicked a field goal to take the 24-22 lead with just 2 seconds left in the contest en route to the victory. Rochester Lourdes (4-1) has now won four straight on the season and takes on #8 Plainview-Elgin-Millville on the road next week. Cannon Falls (4-1) will look to bounce back next week at home against LaCrescent.

#8 Plainview-Elgin-Millville Tops Lake City 37-18

PEM moved to 4-1 on the season with a win over Lake City. The Bulldogs will have a tall task next week as they battle Rochester Lourdes (4-1) at home. Lake City (1-4) will take on Zumbrota-Mazeppa (1-4) at home next Friday.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa Takes Down Pine Island 19-6

The Cougars of Zumbrota-Mazeppa picked up their first win over the season, taking down the Pine Island Panthers in Week 5 action. Z-M (1-4) will host Lake City (1-4) next week. Pine Island (0-5) is at Dover-Eyota (3-2) next week.

Dover-Eyota Beats Lewiston-Altura 48-12

Dover-Eyota scored their highest total of the season en route to the 48-12 win over Lewiston-Altura Friday night. The Eagles (3-2) have now won two straight and have topped 40 points in each contest. They will host Pine Island (0-5) next week. Lewiston-Altura (0-5) will travel to Triton to take on the Cobras next Friday.

Triton Tops St. Charles 30-13

Triton (2-3) was able to end a three-game losing streak knocking off the Saints on the road 30-13. The Cobras will host Lewiston-Altura (0-5) next week. St. Charles (1-4) travels to Goodhue to take on the Wildcats (3-2) next Friday night.

#3 Caledonia Beats Goodhue 35-20

The Caledonia Warriors were able to build an early lead and hold on to the 15-point win over Goodhue Friday night. The Warriors (5-0) will travel to Chatfield to take on the #1 ranked Gophers (5-0) next Friday night. We will have the action on 103.1 KFIL. Goodhue (3-2) will host St. Charles (1-4) next week.

#1 Mankato West Wins Thriller Over #7 Rochester Mayo 28-24

Rochester Mayo led 21-14 at the half, but Mankato West was able to work their way back to get the win and move to 5-0 on the season. Mayo (4-1) will travel to take on New Prague next Friday. West will travel to Austin to take on the Packers.

Owatonna Wins Close Battle Over Northfield 21-19

Owatonna (3-2) was able to pull off a close win over Northfield (3-2) at home Friday night. Northfield scored with 3:39 left but failed the two-point conversion to tie it. The Huskies two losses on the season have come to state-ranked Rochester Mayo to open the season and #1 ranked Mankato West in Week 3. Owatonna will travel to Rochester to battle John Marshall (0-5) next Friday night. Northfield will host Rochester Century (0-4, plays Austin Saturday night).

New Prague Beats Rochester John Marshall 55-6

New Prague (3-2) picked up a win over Rochester JM (0-5) 55-6 in Week 5 action. New Prague will host #7 Rochester Mayo next week (4-1) while JM will host Owatonna (3-2) next Friday night.

#2 Stewartville Tops Red Wing 70-13 on Homecoming

Stewartville (5-0) picked up the big win over the Wingers (1-4) on Homecoming in Stewartville. The Tigers offense has been incredible this season scoring over 56 points per game, while the defense has allowed just 4.6 points per game. The Tigers are tough and have a big matchup with Kasson-Mantorville (4-1) on the road next week. Red Wing will travel to Byron to take on the Bears (3-2) next Saturday.

Kasson-Mantorville Beats Faribault 42-20

The Kasson-Mantorville KoMets moved to 4-1 on the season after knocking off Faribault Friday night. Kasson-Mantorville led 42-7 at one point en route to the win. The KoMets' win sets up a showdown with #2 ranked Stewartville (5-0) next Friday night in Kasson. Faribault (2-3) will travel to Winona to take on the Winhawks (3-1, play Albert Lea Saturday) Friday night.

Byron Beats Mankato East 35-28

The Byron Bears (3-2) were able to hold on to the win over Mankato East Friday to return to their winning ways after dropping their last two games. Byron will host Red Wing (1-4) next Friday. Mankato East (1-4) will host Albert Lea next Friday night.

#6 Fillmore Central Takes Down Randolph 29-8

The Fillmore Central Falcons just keep winning. The latest win pushed them to 5-0 on the season and their physical defense has a lot to do with it, allowing just 8.4 points per game. The offense for the Falcons is scoring over 30 points per game. Fillmore Central has another tough matchup next Friday has they host Kenyon-Wanamingo (3-2) next Friday. Randolph (3-2) is at Rushford-Peterson (4-1) next week.

Rushford-Peterson Beats Winona Cotter 58-20

Rushford-Peterson's offense was able to build off its big win over Wabasha-Kellogg last week into a win over Cotter in Week 5. Rushford-Peterson (4-1) will host Randolph (3-2) on Friday night. Cotter (1-4) is at Hayfield (1-4) next Friday night.

Bethlehem Academy Beats Kenyon-Wanamingo 28-14

Bethlehem Academy (3-2) was able to secure the win over Kenyon-Wanamingo Friday night in what was a fun battle between the Cardinals and the Knights. The Cardinals will host Wabasha-Kellogg (0-5) in Week 6. Kenyon-Wanamingo (3-2) will travel to Harmony to take on the #6 ranked Fillmore Central Falcons (5-0) next Friday.

Hayfield Knocks Off Wabasha-Kellogg 44-8

Hayfield (1-4)  picked up their first win of the season after beating Wabasha-Kellogg 44-8 Friday night on the road. The Vikings will host Winona Cotter (1-4) next week. Wabasha-Kellogg (0-5) will head to Faribault next week to battle Bethlehem Academy (3-2).
