Twin Cities Man Sentenced for Fleeing After His Sister Fell of Motorcycle
The criminal complaint says the Inver Grove Heights man was driving a motorcycle on Highway 61 in Saint Paul Park last August when his sister, 60-year-old Kimberly Ann Robinson, of Newport fell off.
The court document says law enforcement officers responded to a report of an injury crash and found Robinson lying motionless on the shoulder of the roadway.
Rider Permanently Disfigured After Falling Off Motorcycle
She was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with what were described as life-threatening injuries.
The criminal complaint indicates she was listed in critical condition after her arrival at the hospital and suffered serious permanent disfigurement.
Witness Account to Law Enforcement
The court document says a witness heading north was passed by Cory at about 80 mph and that Cory directed an obscene gesture at him while going past. The witness also indicated the incident had been recorded by his vehicle’s dashcam.
After the motorcyclist sped past, the witness told investigators he saw the motorcycle collide with the rear bumper of an SUV and Robinson fall off the back of the motorcycle when it wobbled.

The witness also stated the motorcycle driver did not stop. A dashcam video shows the motorcyclist stopping at the top of the next highway offramp and looking back at the crash site before heading south on Highway 61 and passing his sister lying on the shoulder.
The criminal complaint says investigators later identified Cory as the driver of the motorcycle.
Motorcycle Driver Visited Bar Before Crash
The court document says officers went to his home and, without prompting, Cory stated, “Is my sister okay?” He then told officers he “got scared and kept driving.”
It also states that Cory indicated he and his sister were returning home after visiting a bar in Prescott, Wisconsin. He admitted he “nicked” another vehicle and that when he looked back, Robinson was no longer on his motorcycle.
Cory was sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years probation.
