Zip Line Project Draws Interest from Private Group
St Paul, MN (KROC AM News) - A private group has expressed interest in funding the proposed Zip Rail project that calls for a high speed passenger train between Rochester and the Twin Cities.
The group - known as the North American High Speed Rail Group - has already been meeting with state legislators and a so-called “ meet and greet “ session has been scheduled in St. Paul Thursday.
Wendy Meadley is the Chief Strategy Officer for the group and says -
“ This is new territory and we intend to be in concert and collaboration with the numerous stakeholders involved in a project of this scope.”
She says the group is planning a media event next month to “ provide a better view of the economic opportunity for Minnesota to have a privately funded high speed rail passenger service between the Twin Cities and Rochester. “
Meadley says she cannot release any information about the group’s investors at this point but says a number of them are “ very familiar “ names.
No date has been given yet for a formal announcement of the proposal.
