5 People Shot and 2 Killed in Latest Minneapolis Mass Shooting
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minneapolis police are investigating another mass shooting.
Police chief Brian O'Hara says a shooting early Saturday left two people dead and three others injured. A news release says one man was taken into custody.
The statement indicates the deadly incident occurred just before 2 AM in the area of Hennepin Avenue and 5th Street, which is the same location where a Minneapolis woman is accused of intentionally driving her vehicle into a crowd of people and killing a teenage girl last weekend.

Minneapolis police say the shooting occurred just after officers responded to a report of an altercation and were trying to break up the fight. The news release says the officers heard gunshots and ran toward the gunfire.
They then located five people suffering from gunshot wounds. Minneapolis police reported that two adult males died from their injuries at a hospital, while two juvenile females and an adult female were treated for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
“MPD investigators will work tirelessly to bring whoever is responsible for this tragic incident to justice,” Chief O’Hara said. “We will continue with our late-night safety plan, and work with our law enforcement and community-based partners to enhance the level of safety for all.”
The names of the victims and the person who was taken into custody have not been released.
