Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former southern Minnesota Middle School teacher accused of soliciting a student for sex today entered guilty pleas to felony charges.

A criminal complaint filed in Freeborn County Court last November charged 32-year-old Gerardo Noe Guerrero with contacting a 15-year-old girl on social media and sending her sexually explicit photos. According to the court document, his arrest followed an investigation that began on Halloween last year when investigators responded to a report that a male teacher had solicited the Albert Lea middle school girl to engage in sex.

The charges indicated that investigators were shown screenshots of the teacher communicating with the juvenile on Snapchat and discussing arrangements for a secret meeting. Investigators were able to identify the juvenile girl through the screenshots and spoke with her the following day.

The court document says the girl then told investigators that she was contacted by Guerrero through social media and that he sent her photos of his genitals through Snapchat. The investigators stated that during an examination of her phone they found 10 photos and a video, which depicted the teacher performing a lewd act and soliciting a sexual act.

Guerrero was charged with soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct and two counts of distributing via electronic communication material that relates/describes sexual conduct to a child. Under the terms of a plea agreement with Freeborn County Prosecutors, Guerrero today admitted to the two charges involving electronic communications in exchange for the dismissal of the solicitation charge.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in August.
