Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The man arrested following a brief police chase in a stolen car in Rochester last weekend was the chairman of the Rochester Charter Commission.

Assistant City Attorney David Goslee says Vincent Barry has resigned from the commission and the vacancy he created will be among the four that are slated to be filled by the Chief Judge of the 3rd Judicial District before the group’s next meeting in January.

The 41-year-old Rochester man faces felony counts of vehicle theft and fleeing police following an incident early Saturday. Police reports say Barry was suspected of being drunk when he allegedly stole a car that had been left running in order to warm up the vehicle outside the Fat Willy’s Restaurant in the Shoppes on Maine retail complex. Police later spotted the car and Barry allegedly led officers on a brief chase before he crashed the vehicle into a ditch and was apprehended.

He is due back in court on December 19th.
