Arrest Made in Minnesota Case Involving 8 Dead Dogs
Cottage Grove, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in the Twin Cities are reporting an arrest connected to a case involving the discovery of eight dead dogs.
The Cottage Grove Police Department says an officer discovered the deceased dogs Sunday afternoon along a highway into an area of the Mississippi River backwaters known as Grey Island.
A news release indicates all of the dogs were smaller breeds and ranged from puppies to adults.
An updated news release issued by Cottage Grove Police on Wednesday said officers and the Animal Humane Society acted on tips from the public and executed a search warrant at a Cottage Grove residence Tuesday evening. Police say the individual at the home confessed to disposing of the dogs.
Investigators are still awaiting the results of a necropsy to determine the cause of death of the dogs, however they do believe the individual suspected of dumping the dogs caused their deaths. The investigation also indicates the dogs likely did not die in Cottage Grove.
Police say the investigation to determine who was responsible for the dogs at the time of their deaths and what caused them to die remains active and ongoing. No further information has been released.
