Charges: Driver’s BAC 3 Times Over Legal Limit In Rochester Injury Crash

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man’s blood-alcohol concentration was well over the legal limit when he caused an injury crash in Rochester earlier this month.

That’s according to charges filed in Olmsted County Court Wednesday. Rochester Police responded to the three-vehicle injury crash on the evening of October 13. 

The crash investigation indicates a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Alexander Robert Glynn of Rochester did not yield to right-of-way traffic while it was making a left turn from southbound West Circle Dr. to eastbound 41st St. Northwest. 

A van collided with Glynn’s vehicle in the intersection and Glynn’s vehicle struck a third vehicle after spinning out following the collision with the van, the criminal complaint says. The driver of the van, described in the court document as an adult woman, complained of rib pain and was taken to an emergency room by law enforcement. 

First responders also evaluated a male child riding in the van. The extent of the boy’s injuries is unknown. 

The charges say Glynn admitted to turning in front of the van while speaking with law enforcement. Officers believed Glynn was displaying signs of impairment and ran him through field sobriety tests. 

Glynn then submitted a preliminary breath test which measured his blood-alcohol concentration at .257, which is more than three times above the legal limit of .08, the complaint says. 

Investigators also collected a sample of Glynn’s blood while he was being medically evaluated following the crash. The sample has been sent to the Minnesota BCA crime lab for further testing. 

Glynn was charged Wednesday with gross misdemeanor criminal vehicular operation and two gross misdemeanor DWI counts. He was released without bail but with conditions and is due back in court later this month.
