The Big Ten Conference announced that the conference tournament is canceled.

In a statement released by the Big Ten Conference, the Conference said that they will use the time to work with appropriate medical experts on the next steps forward. Here is the complete statement below:

"The Big Ten Conference announced today that it will be canceling the remainder of the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, effective immediately.

The Big Ten Conference will use this time to work with the appropriate medical experts and institutional leadership to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main priority of the Big Ten Conference continues to be the health, safety and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, fans and media as we continue to monitor all developing and relevant information on the COVID-19 virus."

The Big Ten was not the only conference to cancel its conference tournament. The Big 12, SEC, PAC 12 and American Conference tournaments were also canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to ESPN.

This comes after the NBA suspended their season and the NCAA announced that the NCAA Men's and Women's basketball tournaments would be played without fans in attendance.

The NHL is expected to release more information today if they are suspending their season. Teams did not hold morning skates, team meetings, or practice. Road teams also headed to the airport for the final word on whether to stay or go. The NHL is expected to release more information at Noon, according to Darren Dreger.
