
Check Forger Sentenced to Prison – Owes $8K to Rochester Stores
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Albert Lea man has been handed a prison sentence and has been ordered to pay thousands of dollars in restitution to a list of Rochester businesses that he ripped off by writing forged checks to make purchases.
47-year-old Jason Alan Roe appeared in Olmsted County Court this afternoon to receive his sentence for convictions stemming from eight criminal cases dating back to 2022. According to court documents, he was accused of writing forged checks at a variety of businesses and to individuals that resulted in losses ranging from around $100 to more than $2800.

Roe was named in 8 criminal files charging him with multiple counts of felony check forgery. He earlier entered into a plea agreement and admitted to the charges in 4 of the cases.
Under the terms of his plea deal, Roe was given concurrent sentences totaling 21 months in prison. He was also ordered to pay more than $8100 in restitution to the businesses victimized by the check forgery scheme.
Roe is scheduled to appear in Blue Earth County Court on Tuesday to be sentenced for a number of felony check forgery convictions. He also previously received a stayed prison sentence and probation for a check forgery conviction in Mower County.
