BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (AP) — Police in a Twin Cities suburb say a girl who died over the weekend reportedly was found with a jump rope around her neck.

The Star Tribune reports 6-year-old Kendria Johnson was found unconscious at her foster home in Brooklyn Park Saturday night.

Brooklyn Park police Deputy Chief Todd Milburn says when the call came in, it was reported that "the victim had somehow tangled herself in a jump rope." Milburn says it doesn't necessarily mean that is what happened.

Officials say emergency personnel performed CPR. The child died later at North Memorial Medical Center.

Police continue to investigate the girl's death. The Hennepin County medical examiner's office said Monday the cause and manner of death are pending.
