Costs of Proposed Olmsted Weapons Screening Program Approach $10m
It was a case of sticker shock yesterday for the Olmsted County Board. The board decided in August to proceed with a proposed weapons screening project at the Government Center.
Yesterday the board was told the estimated cost of the project had shot up from around $6 million to more than $9 million. The board has decided to seek bids and then make a decision on what the next step will be.
Bids are expected in December. If they are rejected, the board will have to decide whether to modify the current proposal, consider a different security plan or some other option.
