Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Olmsted County Public Health Services is releasing the number of COVID-19 tests involving local residents for the first time.

The agency says between March 15 and May 20, tests of county residents conducted by Mayo Clinic totaled 13,005. The agency says that’s the number of tests, not the number of individuals who have been tested.

Since the pandemic began, many health care workers have taken multiple tests.

The county’s figure represents about 7.5-percent of the state’s total as of May 20. The county’s number of positive cases was just under 500, which is about 2.5-percent of the state total.
