Cresco Iowa Man Convicted of Cyberstalking Minnesota Woman

Cedar Rapids, IA (KROC-AM News) - A northeastern Iowa man has admitted to federal cyberstalking charges involving a Minnesota resident.
The US Attorney for Northern Iowa says 57-year-old Michael McGuire of Cesco Iowa entered guilty pleas on Friday to four counts of cyberstalking. He admitted using Facebook and the US mail to harass and intimidate the victim, causing substantial emotional distress. The online stalking activity included semi-nude photos that were sent to some of the victim's contacts through Facebook as well as the creation of fake dating profiles associated with the victim.
Court records indicate McGuire also posted numerous sexually explicit yard signs at the victim's residence in western Minnesota that listed the person's name, phone number, address, and email address. Prosecutors say sexually explicit mailings with seminude photos of the victim were also delivered to various friends, family members, and other associates of the victim.
A sentencing hearing has not been scheduled in the case.
