Cannon Falls, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities have identified the male who was found dead after going missing in the Cannon River last week.

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call regarding a man in the river near Cannon Falls shortly after 4:30 Friday afternoon. 

First responders found the boy’s body and informed his family of the recovery shortly before 7:00 Friday evening, a news release issued by the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office says.

Authorities ID 17-Year-Old Boy Who Died After Going Missing While Swimming in Cannon River Friday

The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified the teen as 17-year-old Logan Alway

Authorities said Alway was swimming in the river with two other men when he went under water. The two other men entered the water to search for him. 

Resurfaced Twice Before Going Under for Third Time

Alway resurfaced twice before going under a third time and never returned to the surface, according to the news release.

An official cause of death and other information set to be included in the medical examiner’s public report was not available as of Tuesday morning.
