Police identify Suspect Involved in Fatal Red Wing Standoff, Order Autopsy for Slain Woman
Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities have identified the suspect involved in a fatal standoff in Red Wing Sunday evening.

A prior news release issued by the Red Wing Police Department says officers responded to the report of a suicidal man with a gun around 6:00 Sunday evening in the area of Putnam Ave. and West Ave.
After about 2.5 hours of negotiation, the man surrendered and was taken into custody. Law enforcement then entered the home and found a deceased woman inside, authorities said.
On Monday morning, Red Wing police identified the man apprehended as 41-year-old Darryl Dion Nixon Jr. The news release indicates the Red Wing man is suspected of killing the woman.
Nixon was booked into the Goodhue County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder. He’s scheduled to be formally charged and make his first court appearance on Tuesday, police say.
Autopsy Ordered for Woman Found Dead Following Red Wing, MN Standoff
Investigators have ordered an autopsy for the slain woman. The Southern Minnesota Medical Examiner’s Office is scheduled to conduct the autopsy Tuesday morning.
Her name will be released following the completion of the autopsy and family notification, the news release says.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and officials are asking the public to avoid the area around the scene as detectives complete their investigative work.
