Update: Police ID Suspect in Fatal Red Wing Standoff, Order Autopsy for Slain Woman

Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News)- A woman is dead and a man is in custody following a standoff in Red Wing on Sunday.

Limited information is available so far. A news release issued by the Red Wing Police Department says officers responded to the report of a suicidal man with a gun around 6:00 Sunday evening.

The report came from a residence in the area of Putnam Ave. and West Ave. Police say negotiations with the suspect lasted for multiple hours.

Woman Found Dead After Hours-Long Standoff in Red Wing, MN

The man eventually exited the home and was taken into custody. Officers then entered the residence and found a woman dead inside.

The names of the suspect and apparent victim have not been released. Authorities say the deadly incident is under investigation and that there is not a danger to the community.
