Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - One of the men arrested in connection with a violent incident at a southeast Rochester apartment complex nearly 2 years ago is no longer charged in the case.

Court records indicate 26-year-old Mohamed Abdullahi Ali and two other men were arrested in April 2023 after Rochester police responded to a report of an altercation involving a firearm. It was alleged that he and the two other men assaulted another man as he was walking with his daughter.

The court documents concerning the case say the victim and his daughter ran to their apartment, but were followed by the three men who then started pounding and kicking on the door. The victim told police that he briefly opened the door and was confronted by one of the men, who allegedly pointed a black and gold handgun at him.

The criminal complaints against the three men state that the responding officers later located them in another apartment unit and arrested the trio. The charges say the apartment was searched and the officers found a black and gold handgun in the closet.

Ali was charged with second-degree riot involving a dangerous weapon. Olmsted County Court records show the felony charge was dismissed late last month. A filing by the Olmsted County Attorney's Office indicates the decision was due to "evidentiary issues."

One of the two other men charged in the case, 37-year-old Shueb Noor of Rochester, is scheduled to stand trial next month. According to the criminal complaint against him, he is accused of being the person who pointed the gun at the victim. It is also alleged that Noor was caught in possession of nearly 500 fentanyl pills. He is charged with second-degree drug sale, second-degree assault, and second-degree riot.
