Filings now open for MN’s 2014 elections

Minnesota’s 2014 political season formally began this morning as filings
for hundreds of elective offices around the state opened.

Filings will be taken for two weeks. Voters this year will make decisions on the governor’s office, all seats in the U.S. and Minnesota Houses, Al Franken’s U.S. Senate seat and local offices.

In Rochester, the mayor’s office and the three odd-numbered seats on the City Council are up for election this year. Ed Hruska has filed for a new term as the 1st ward representative. Shaun Palmer has filed for the 5th ward seat. He lost to Mark Hickey in a special election for that seat last year. Mayor Brede also filed for re-election this morning.

Other local elections include three seats on the Olmsted County Board and four seats on the Rochester School Board.
