The recent rain in southeastern Minnesota has caused a slow rise in the Mississippi River and it's expected to continue rising into the middle of next week. As of 6 a.m., the river was at 12 ½ feet in the Wabasha area. That’s half a foot above flood stage. It’s expected to rise another foot before cresting next Tuesday. The National Weather Service says this will cause minor flooding problems in the Wabasha area.  More rain

Remember this date a year ago - when heavy snow brought parts of southeastern Minnesota to a standstill? By the time it ended, Rochester had received 14 inches, one of the highest 24 hour totals in city history. Dodge Center received 15.4 inches, the highest daily snowfall record for the month of May in Minnesota history.
