Former Mayor of SE Minnesota City to Enter Guilty Plea
Preston, MN (KROC-AM News) - A plea hearing is scheduled to take place on Monday in a criminal case involving the former mayor of a southeastern Minnesota city.
According to Fillmore County Court documents, 34-year-old Joshua Darin Nordsving was charged in December with gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child and two counts of misdemeanor domestic assault. At the time, he was serving as the mayor of Canton in Fillmore County.
The criminal complaint alleged that Nordsving struck a 9-year-old child in the face eight times during a domestic violence incident in late October of last year. The court document indicates that bruising was visible on the victim's face during a custody exchange that occurred the following day in Chatfield.
