Guilty Plea Entered in Stewartville Stabbing and Shoplifting Case

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man is scheduled to be sentenced next month for stabbing an employee of a Stewartville business during an attempted shoplifting incident last fall.

30-year-old Caleb Siler pleaded guilty to a third-degree assault charge through an agreement with prosecutors that included the dismissal of a first-degree aggravated robbery charge. Siler was identified through a security camera video as the person who was caught trying to steal a sample bottle of cologne from the Pure Pleasure store.

The arrest report says Siler ran out of the store when the employee called 911. The worker then chased him into the parking lot, where the 52-year-old man was stabbed in the leg before Siler drove away. The wounded employee was taken to St. Marys Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Deputies later located Siler at a Rochester motel and officials stated he was transported to the hospital to be treated for an apparent drug overdose.
