Police responded to the scene of the assault report at a residence in southeast Rochester shortly after 2 p.m. on Friday.
The victim told officers a man identified as 44-year-old Timothy Mckenzie had taken out a handgun and pointed it at the victim’s head after threatening and joking about shooting the victim throughout the day, the complaint says.
Officers then found Mckenzie walking away from the residence and ordered him to stop and put his hands up. The court document says Mckenzie initially reached into his pockets before complying with the officers commands.
Upon arresting Mckenzie, the officer found a handgun with a live bullet in the chamber in his pocket, the complaint says.
Mckenzie told police he had been arguing with the victim but denied pointing the gun at the man. The court document says Mckenzie did not have a permit to carry a firearm.
Mckenzie is charged with felony second-degree assault, felony threats and gross misdemeanor carrying a pistol without a permit. His conditional bail was set at $5,000 Monday morning and he's due back in court later this month.
