Hibbing Man Gets Life For Mesabi Trail Murder

Hibbing, MN (Learfield News Service) - A Hibbing man is sentenced to life in prison for a deadly shooting last January on the Mesabi Trail.

Nineteen-year-old Deshon Bonnell pleaded guilty to first-degree murder while committing aggravated robbery in the killing of 33-year-old Joshua Lavalley.  Bonnell earlier admitted that he shot Lavalley twice in the head.

The criminal complaint alleges Bonnell and a co-defendant took Lavalley into the woods and shot him because he made unwanted advances on Bonnell's girlfriend.
