How Much Snow Will Minnesota and Wisconsin Get?

The snowfall forecast carries some variability, but the latest predictions are:

  • Northern Half of the Region (along and north of I-94): Likely to see the highest amounts of 4" to 7".
  • Southeast Minnesota & Central Wisconsin: Snowfall totals could range from 3" to 5", depending on storm track and strength.

NWS says they have “moderate confidence” for exact timing and storm specifics, however, the graphics they provided do highlight the spread in expected snowfall amounts:

  • Minimum totals: Most areas should get at least 1" to 3".
  • Maximum potential: If conditions align perfectly, snowfall totals could reach up to 5" to 7" in the hardest-hit locations.

What to Watch For With Thursday's Winter Storm

Travelers are urged to monitor conditions closely, as commute times may be impacted. With the potential for accumulating snow during peak travel hours, roads could become slippery and visibility reduced.

Further refinements to the storm's track and timing will come as the system approaches.
