Investigators Searching For Cause of Deadly MN Apartment Fire
Wadena, MN (KROC-AM News) - Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's Office are searching for the cause of a deadly fire in northern Minnesota.
A news release issued by the Wadena Fire Department says its firefighters and fire crews from six neighboring communities were called out into the bitter cold Sunday night to battle a fire in an apartment building. When they arrived at the scene around 10:45 PM, the firefighters reported heavy flames coming from an upstairs window.
Officials reported that one person was found dead inside the building. The name of the victim has not been released.
Another 12 residents of the apartment building were displaced by the fire and were provided housing at a motel in Wadena. The news release also indicates that seven residents of a nearby apartment building were also temporarily evacuated due to the fire.

The Wadena Fire Department reported that subzero temperatures and extreme wind chills hampered the firefighting effort. Officials say four trucks and two ladders froze up during the operation.
