
Authorities Identify Victim of Lake Vermilion Boating Crash
Cook, MN (MinnesotaNow) - Authorities in northeastern Minnesota have released the name of a man who was killed in a boating mishap Tuesday evening.
Numerous People Thrown Into Water
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says the incident was reported around 6:20 p.m. on Lake Vermilion. A statement says witnesses reported that numerous people were thrown from boats into the frigid water near Manbeck Island, approximately 5 miles north of Cook.
Victim Identified
The Sheriff's Office reported that one person was pronounced dead at the scene. He has now been identified as 53-year-old Jeremy Brandon Johnson of Eveleth.
Injured Person Airlifted to Hospital
Three other people were transported to a hospital in Duluth. One of the victims was airlifted from the scene, while the other two were transported by ambulance. Information about their medical conditions is not available.

Multi-Agency Response
Emergency responders from a half-dozen nearby communities also responded to the incident, including the St. Louis County Rescue Squad. The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office is assisting with the investigation.
