Body Found Near Rochester ID’D As Missing Minnesota Man

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner has identified the body found near Rochester by a dog walker on Wednesday.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office responded to the body discovery at a wooded area around 1:30 p.m. near Silver Creek Road Northeast and the Gordon W. Yeager Management Area, which is east of Quarry Hill Nature Center. 

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin said Thursday morning the body had been exposed in the elements for a prolonged period of time, which prevented deputies from identifying the remains. 

Parkin stated Thursday afternoon investigators suspected the body to be a man reported missing to the Rochester Police Department in March of 2023. 

On Friday the southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner said the body has officially been identified as 60-year-old Len Reynolds. The Rochester man was last seen on March 7, 2023. 

Rochester Police began a search effort for Reynolds after responding to a welfare check at his home in the 1200 block of 11th Ave. Southeast and finding his phone, wallet and keys had been left behind.

Parkin said the preliminary investigation indicates foul play was not involved in Reynold’s death and that it appeared the body had not been moved. 

He said the state of the corpse made it difficult to tell how long the body had been in the wooded area. 

The medical examiner has not yet released a cause of death. The death investigation is ongoing.
