Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been ordered to pay nearly $4500 in restitution for causing significant damage inside the Olmsted County Jail while he was being detained in the facility.

The restitution was included in a sentencing order issued today by an Olmsted County Judge in the case of 47-year-old Devon Floyd Sackett. According to court documents, he was accused of threatening to harm two Olmsted County Detention Deputies in separate incidents in 2023 and starting a fire by putting a paperclip into an electrical outlet in the jail.

One of the criminal complaints filed in the case states that the detention deputies who responded to the fire also found that the toilet and sink in Sackett's cell had been partially ripped away from the wall. The court document says he was moved to another room, where he allegedly broke off a sprinkler head and used it to break portions of a window in the door.

Sackett entered into a plea agreement in December and admitted to a felony count of terroristic threats and a first-degree property damage charge stemming from the arson fire. In exchange, another felony property damage count, a gross misdemeanor arson charge, and another threats charge were dismissed.

In addition to the restitution, Sackett was given a stayed 32 month prison sentence and was placed on probation for five years.
