
Busy Mayo Clinic Entrance at Downtown Rochester Campus is Now Closed
Mayo Clinic is encouraging patients and visitors to use the below-ground subway entrances to access the buildings when possible during the work.
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- One of the busiest entrances to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester is now closed.

It's the latest among many noticeable changes to the health-care giant’s downtown Rochester campus as Mayo Clinic continues construction of its $5 billion expansion.
Exterior demolition of the Ozmun Building Complex and former Lourdes High School got started earlier this year.

During a news conference in February, Mayo Clinic leaders announced an approximate timeline for some of the major projects scheduled to begin this year.
The entrance and the vehicle drop-off at the Charlton Building also closed on Saturday. That temporary closure is scheduled to end by Monday.
Eastern Entrance of Mayo Clinic's Gonda and Mayo Buildings in Downtown Rochester, MN Is Now Closed
One of the projects is a remodeling of the east entrances to the Mayo and Gonda buildings. That remodel project started on Saturday, April 12, according to Mayo Clinic’s construction website.
Ground-level access to the eastern side of buildings will not be during the work. Signs will be in place directing pedestrians to the available building entrances, the construction website says.
Mayo Clinic is encouraging patients and visitors to use the below-ground subway entrances to access the buildings when possible during the work. Mayo says volunteers will be available to help navigate pedestrians to the entrances.
The remodel paves the way for the future closure of the western entrance of the Mayo/Gonda building complex. A new patient care facility is slated to be constructed on the western side of the Gonda building.
Mayo says 2nd Ave. Southwest will remain open to allow access to the Kahler Hotel and businesses in the area.
The eastern entrance remodel is scheduled to be completed by June of 2026.
